Refereeing is a great way to stay involved in rugby — and it’s more flexible than you might think!

• Referee when and where it suits you. While there are some initial guidelines when you're starting out, over time you’ll have more say in when and where you referee.

• You don’t have to commit every weekend. Many of our referees are involved every second or third weekend — our online system, WhosTheRef.com, makes it easy to manage your availability.

• Opportunities to travel. Each year, referees have the chance to officiate in other parts of New Zealand as part of our interchange programme.

• The best seat in the house. There’s no better way to experience every tackle, ruck, maul, and try.

WRRA 2026 Subscriptions

The following are the provisional WRRA membership rates for the 2026 year. These will be approved at the first Executive Committee Meeting.

Early bird discounted rate if paid before 30th April 2026.

Full Membership: NZ$80 (Early bird NZ$60)

Student Membership: NZ$60 (Early bird NZ$40)

First year Membership: NZ$30

Honorary Membership: NZ$15

Transferee Membership: NZ$60 (NZ$80 if not paid within 4 weeks)

(Applies to a Referee transferring from another Association after 30/04/26)

65+ Senior Discount : 50% of the fees above

Subscriptions can be paid by Internet Banking or directly to our Treasurer. If the Treasurer is not present at a Monday night meeting, Ian Dallas should be able to accept your subscriptions payment and issue you with a receipt.
